Dennis Orme-Shaw (b. 1944) was born in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, N. Ireland.
Dennis studied at the Belfast College of Art from 1962 – 1967, receiving a Diploma in Art from there in 1965, a National Diploma in Design in 1966 and an Art Teachers Diploma in 1967. He went on to become an art teacher but was soon able to earn his living solely from sales of his art.
He has been awarded several honours including Silver Medals at the RUA Exhibitions in 1993 and 1994 and 2002.
He was awarded the Arts Society of Ulster’s Perpetual Trophy in June 2000.
His work forms part of the collections of the Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank, Arts Council Collection, Crawford Municipal Gallery and the Doyle Hotel Group, Dublin. His work also features in private collections in America, Canada, Ireland, UK, Hong Kong and New Zealand.
